FEATURE PRESENTATION

This features aim is to present one location or one technique and highlight the different effects / images that can be achieved by time exposure / shutter alterations and filter techniques.

Two images of the same location but totally different - scroll below for more info

Waterfall 1 Waterfall 2

These two images were taken in the Argyll region of Scotland. The camera was tripod mounted and shot in a vertical position. The second image would not have been possible without a tripod or other support as the aperture and shutter have been altered to such an extent that camera shake would have occurred if hand taken.

The fist image was shot on Aperture Pri., mode , selecting a wide aperture (F5.6) and a fast shutter speed (1/500th) so as to freeze the water. The second shot however was shot on Shutter Pri., Mode. I wanted to create what is commonly referred to as the ' cotton wool ' effect and so I selected a slow shutter speed with resulted in a exp of around 1/15th - 1/8 of a second at F11.

Which do you prefer? This is one example of how taking the camera off AUTO can change the feel and look of an image.
